Troubleshooting Bluetooth Temperature Gateways | Jolt

Overview: This guide will help you troubleshoot your Bluetooth Temperature Gateways if they are not sending temperature updates to your Jolt account. Before starting, ensure you check if the issue is with the gateway or your sensors/network by referring to the Bluetooth Sensors Troubleshooting Guide.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Power and Connection:

    • Ensure your gateway is plugged into power and the power supply has a red light illuminated.

    • Unplug the gateway from the power cable, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.

  2. Verify Update on Web Portal:

    • Check the Jolt web portal to see if your gateway’s last reading time has been updated. This may take up to 10 minutes.

  3. Check Network Connection:

    • Confirm that the network your gateway is connected to is functioning properly. Try loading a few web pages on a computer or phone connected to the same network.

  4. Improve Signal Strength:

    • Unplug the gateway and power supply from the wall socket.

    • Move the gateway to the access point or router nearest to it. Plug it back in and ensure it is within a few feet of the router with a clear line-of-sight.

    • Check the web portal again to see if the gateway’s last reading time has updated. This may take up to 10 minutes.

  5. Reconfigure the Gateway:

    • Deactivate the gateway from the Jolt web portal.

    • In the Jolt app, go to Sensors > Hubs and tap the blue + button at the bottom right of the screen (you must be logged in as a device admin).

    • Tap on Bluetooth hub and attempt to reconfigure the gateway to your network.

  6. Contact Technical Support:

    • If the gateway still doesn’t update on the web portal, contact Jolt Technical Support for further assistance.

Possible Resolutions

  • Range/Interference:

    • If range or interference is identified as the issue, move the gateway or network access point to improve communication.

    • Ensure that your sensors can still communicate with the gateway after moving it. For a visual guide, refer to our Hardware Setup Guide.

    • Consider using more powerful hardware from our LoRa (Long Range) equipment lineup if necessary. Learn more about our sensor platforms here.

  • Hardware Issues:

    • If you suspect a hardware issue with your gateway, contact Jolt Technical Support for replacement assistance.
