LoRa Gateway Connectivity Troubleshooting Checklist

Step 1: Check Gateway Status

  • Ensure the Status and LORA indicators on the gateway are illuminated (Multitech) or the Power (green), Ethernet (amber) and LoRa (red) indicators are illuminated (Laird).

  • Verify that the power cable is securely plugged in.

  • Confirm that the network cable is connected to a working port.

Step 2: Verify Network Connection

  • Check that your network is connected to the internet.

  • Ensure the gateway is plugged into the correct network port.

Step 3: Whitelist Jolt (If Using a Firewall)

  • Confirm that WebSockets ports 80 and 443 are whitelisted on your firewall inbound and outbound to/from *.jolt.com.

  • Contact your network administrator or internet provider if needed.

Step 4: Restart the Gateway

  • Disconnect the power adapter from the gateway.

  • Wait 10 seconds.

  • Reconnect the power adapter.

  • Allow 5-10 minutes for the gateway to reconnect to Jolt.

Step 5: Remove and Re-add the Gateway

  • From the Jolt App or Web Portal:

    • Tap the gateway.

    • Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.

    • Select Delete/Deactivate.

    • Re-add the gateway:

      • Tap the “+” icon.

      • Select Gateway.

      • Follow the on-screen instructions.

    • Wait about 10 minutes to check if the gateway reconnects.

Step 6: Check Connection Status

  • In the Jolt app or web portal, tap on the gateway.

  • Verify that the gateway shows a recent reading (less than 5 minutes old).

  • Open and close the app to ensure it is in sync and up-to-date.

Step 7: Contact Jolt Support

  • If the gateway still isn’t connecting, reach out to Jolt Support for further assistance.

Additional Tips

  • Optimize Sensor Placement:

    • Ensure sensors are within the effective range of the gateway.

  • Verify Network Configuration:

    • Confirm that the gateway’s IP address and port settings match the requirements specified by Jolt.

  • Minimize Interference:

    • Ensure there are no other devices or sources of interference affecting the gateway.

  • Check Power Supply:

    • Verify that the gateway is receiving a stable power supply and that the power adapter is functioning correctly.

Important Reminder:

  • If the gateway is offline and sensors are activated, put the sensors to sleep as follows:

    • JRB 004 and JRB 301: Remove the battery.

    • L01, LRTD01: Remove the batteries.

    • DLHT65: Press the ACT button 5 times rapidly until you see a long red light.

This checklist format provides a clear, actionable guide to help with troubleshooting your LoRa Gateway connectivity issues.
