Multi-Function Pyrometer Troubleshooting Guide

If you're having trouble with your Multi-Function Pyrometer, follow these steps to try and resolve the issue. These troubleshooting steps will help you ensure that everything is set up correctly and functioning as it should.

1. Update Your Apps and OS

  • Make sure both the Jolt App and your device’s operating system (OS) are updated to the latest versions. Updates can fix bugs and improve compatibility.

2. Check Bluetooth Connection

  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on for your device. This is essential for the pyrometer to connect with the app.

3. Reset the Pyrometer

  • Remove the battery from the pyrometer, wait 10 seconds, and then reinsert it. This can help reset the device and resolve connection issues.

4. Replace the Battery

  • If the pyrometer still isn’t working, the battery might be dead. Try replacing it with a new one to see if that solves the problem.

5. Calibrate the Pyrometer

  • Calibration ensures that the pyrometer reads temperatures accurately. Refer to your pyrometer's manual for instructions on how to calibrate it.

6. Try Another Device

  • If the pyrometer isn’t connecting, try connecting it to a different device. If it connects successfully to another device, the issue might be with your original device. If it still doesn’t connect, the problem may be with the pyrometer itself.

7. Check for Interference

  • Other electronic devices, like microwaves or cordless phones, can interfere with Bluetooth connections. Ensure that there are no potential sources of interference near the pyrometer.

8. Restart Both Devices

  • Restart both your device and the pyrometer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connection issues.

9. Verify Pyrometer Status

  • Check the status of the pyrometer:

    • The Bluetooth icon should be visible.

    • If the icon is not visible, turn the pyrometer off and then back on. The pyrometer may go into a default status if it doesn’t connect within 20 seconds.

    • Ensure that the Auto Record and Stabilization Settings are correct. The pyrometer tip size must be set to the accurate size for proper adjustments.

10. Check Firmware Version

  • Confirm that the pyrometer's firmware is version 1.12 or higher.

    • Download the Blue2 Reader app to check the firmware version once the pyrometer is connected. The app will also allow you to update the firmware if necessary.

11. iPad Bluetooth Settings

  • If you are using an iPad, make sure Bluetooth is enabled for the Jolt App:

    • Go to the iPad’s settings.

    • Navigate to "Applications" and select the Jolt App.

    • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on. If it’s off, slide the button to turn it on.

12. Contact Support

  • If you’ve tried all of the above steps and the pyrometer still isn’t working, contact our support team. They can help you troubleshoot further and assist in contacting the manufacturer if needed.
