How to Replace LoRaWAN Sensor Batteries

If your LoRaWAN sensor shows a low battery alert or is no longer working, it’s time to replace the battery. Follow the steps below for different sensor models.

Note: These instructions are specifically for LoRaWAN sensors. For Bluetooth sensors, refer to their respective battery replacement guides.

Jolt Temperature Sensors (Models: JRB301 & JRB004)

  4. Reassemble the Sensor:

    • Put the sensor casing back together and screw it back in place.

Tip: Always use the recommended Panasonic 3V CR123a battery for optimal performance.

Dragino Temperature & Humidity Sensors (Models: DLHT65 & DLHT65N)

  1. Check Battery Status:

    • Press the “ACT” button on the sensor. If no lights respond, the battery is likely dead.

  2. Replace the Battery:

    • For DLHT65N: Unscrew the battery door on the back, replace the battery, and screw the door back on.

    • For DLHT65: Batteries cannot be replaced without damaging the sensor. Consider replacing the entire sensor if the battery is dead.

Tip: Regularly check the sensor’s battery status to avoid unexpected outages.

LRD01 & LRTD01 Sensors

  1. Gather Your Tools:

    • Replacement AA batteries (use Lithium-ion batteries if the sensor will be in a freezer)

  2. Open the Battery Door:

    • Unscrew the battery door on the back of the sensor.

  3. Replace the Batteries:

    • Remove old batteries and insert new ones, making sure to match the battery type with the sensor’s environment.

  4. Close the Battery Door:

    • Screw the door back into place.

Tip: Use Lithium-ion batteries for environments below freezing to ensure reliable performance.

Additional Tips

  • Battery Disposal: Dispose of old batteries properly according to local regulations to protect the environment.

  • Battery Life: Regularly check battery levels and replace batteries as needed to maintain sensor accuracy.

  • Sensor Placement: Ensure sensors are placed in environments compatible with the battery type used (e.g., using appropriate batteries for temperature extremes).
