Jolt App Zebra Printer Setup Guide

Follow these instructions to set up your Zebra printer using the Jolt app. There are four connection options: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, and Ethernet. Choose the method that best suits your needs.


Connection Options:

Requires a USB OTG (On-The-Go) cable. No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth needed.

Ethernet

✅ Recommended for hardwired stability

Connects directly to a router or switch using a network cable.

Bluetooth

⚠️ Not recommended

Prone to disconnections, especially if the device is more than 15 feet from the printer.

Wi-Fi (Recommended for Wireless):

  • Reliable for maintaining connections.

  • Must be a private, password-protected network.

Bluetooth (Not Recommended):

  • Prone to disconnections, especially if the device moves more than 15 feet from the printer.

USB (Recommended for Cable on Android):

  • Available only for Android devices.

  • Does not require Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Ethernet (Recommended for Cable):

  • Connect to a router for stable connectivity.


Before You Begin

  1. Update Everything

    • Make sure your Jolt App is updated to the latest version.

    • Ensure your device's operating system and printer firmware are up to date.

  2. Use a 2.4GHz Network

    • Avoid 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, which can cause connectivity issues.

    • Use only private, password-protected Wi-Fi networks.


Bluetooth Setup:

  1. Open the Settings on your tablet.

  2. Go to the Bluetooth menu.

  3. Ensure the printer's serial number (50J or 50N) appears and shows as connected.

    • If not, forget the connection and search again.


Jolt App Setup Instructions:

  1. Open the Jolt App:

    • Go to Settings > Printers.

    • Accept any pairing requests.

  2. Find the Printer:

    • Refresh the search if the printer doesn’t appear.

    • Select the Zebra printer (50J or 50N).

  3. Connect the Printer:

    • Enter the password if prompted and select Connect.

    • If using Wi-Fi, skip if already connected.

    • For Bluetooth, close the pop-up if it's not needed.

  4. Finalize Setup:

    • Once connected, select Continue.

    • Retry and select Test Print to confirm the connection.

    • Name the printer (e.g., Kitchen Printer, Office Printer).

    • Choose a label size and select Done.


Choose the Correct Setup Option for Your Device and App

Follow these steps to set up your Zebra Printer with Jolt, depending on the device and app you are using. Make sure to choose the correct setup option for a smooth installation.


1. Wireless Connections

For Jolt on Apple and Android Devices:

  1. Ensure Updates: Make sure the Jolt App is updated to the latest version.

  2. Connect to Wi-Fi: Your printer and device should be connected to the same private or password-protected Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz network is recommended for stability).

  3. Printer Setup:

    • Turn on your Zebra Printer and make sure it’s in wireless mode (hold the Feed button for ~10 seconds until the Data Transfer light beings flashing green).

    • Open the Jolt App on your device.

    • Go to the printer setup section within the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer.

    • Enter the network details if prompted to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi.

  4. Test Connection: Print a test page from the app to ensure the connection is working.


2. Cable Connections

For Android Devices:

  1. Ensure Updates: Verify that both the Jolt App and your Android device's operating system are up-to-date.

  2. Connect Printer via USB:

    • Connect the Zebra Printer to your Android device using a USB OTG (On-The-Go) cable.

    • Open the Jolt App on your Android device.

    • Navigate to the printer setup section and select the connected printer.

  3. Test Connection: Print a test page to confirm that the connection is successful.
