How to Create Sensor Alerts and Notifications

Sensor Alerts help you stay on top of things by notifying the appropriate people when a sensor reports data that is out of the desired range. Follow these steps to set up your sensor alerts.

Prerequisites

  1. Gateways and Sensors must be connected to Jolt: Ensure your gateway and sensors are online and installed correctly so you can get the data you need to trigger relevant alerts.

  2. You must also have the correct permissions. You need to have a role with the Sensor Admin permission, or you need to have location, Content Group, or Company Admin permissions.

Creating a Sensor Alert

1. Log in to the Jolt Web Portal

You can also manage alerts on the mobile app by selecting any sensor from the sensor dashboard, selecting the three dots menu, and selecting Settings.

2. Navigate to Sensor Settings

  1. From the main menu, click on Sensors.

  2. Select Sensor Settings

3. Select the sensor you want to set alerts for using the list of sensors on the left side

  1. Click the Add (Blue +) button on the bottom right

4. Define your Alert Settings

  1. For Notifications, you can specify which roles should receive which type of notification.

Editing Sensor Alerts in Bulk

  1. From the Sensor Settings page in the web portal, select the “Grid View” option on the bottom left

  1. Using the grid view, you can make updates in bulk including the ability to copy and paste for mass updates.

    1. Any updates made will be highlighted in yellow. Click the Save button on the top right to save your changes.

    2. Note that if you want to add a new “tier” (eg. Alert 1, Alert 2, Alert 3, Alert 4, etc.) of alert settings you will need to use the list view to add the number of alerts you want to at least one sensor first, and then the grid view can be used for any additional sensors.
