Labeling | At Print Time Label Item
Overview The "At Print Time" label item allows you to include dynamic information on your labels that is only known at the moment of printing. This feature is useful for labels that require information such as a customer’s name or a specific weight, which is not available until the label is printed.
Prerequisites
Understanding Use Cases: This feature is helpful when you need to include variable information on labels, such as the customer's name on a carryout order. Jolt can prompt users to enter this information at the time of printing.
Instructions
1. Log In and Navigate to Label Templates
Log into the Jolt Web Portal.
Go to Labeling and then select Label Templates.
Click on the label template you want to edit.
2. Add an At Print Time Label Item
Select the Area: Click on the area of the label template where you want to add the at print time label item.
Choose an Item Type: In the Jolt Web Portal, under the “Entered When Printed” section, you will find four item types:
Text Item: Prompts the user to enter any combination of alphanumeric characters that will print on the label.
FDA Net Weight: Prompts the user for a weight value in an FDA-required format. Choose between ounces or grams for the input units. When printing, the user enters the weight, which is then formatted and printed.
Date/Time Input: Prompts the user to select a date and time to print on the label.
Number: Prompts the user to enter a numeric value, such as a count of items.
3. Define the Input Label
Add Input Label: When adding an at print time item, you will be asked to provide an “Input Label.”
Create Clear Instructions: The input label is displayed to the person printing the label to explain what information they need to enter. For example, if you need to capture the count of chicken breasts, you might use an input label like “# Chicken Breasts.”
4. Print the Label
User Prompt: When a person taps to print the label, they will be prompted to enter the required information.
Label Printing: The entered information will be included on the label as specified.
Example FDA-Approved Formats
FDA Net Weight: The format for the weight entry must comply with FDA standards. For example, if the weight is entered in grams, it will be formatted accordingly on the label.
