Managing Time & Temperature Processes on the Jolt App

Overview This guide helps you complete time and temperature processes using the Jolt App. Make sure you have set up your food handling processes on the Jolt Web Portal before using the app.

Before You Start

  • Ensure food handling processes are set up on the Jolt Web Portal.

  • Understand key concepts: step duration and target temperature.

  • Know the different methods used in Jolt for time and temperature tracking.

Starting a Process

  1. Log In: Open the Jolt App and log in using your PIN.

  2. Navigate to Lists: Go to Lists > All Lists and tap the Plus button at the bottom.

  3. Start a Process: Tap Start a Process in the bottom drawer.

  4. Select Food: Choose a food from the list. If you can’t find it, scroll or tap the Search icon. If the food isn’t listed, add it on the Jolt Web Portal.

  5. Choose Process: The default process will be selected. Tap on it to choose a different process if needed. If the process isn’t available, make it available on the Web Portal.

  6. Continue: Tap Continue to start the process. The timer will begin.

Managing Processes

  • Active Process: Once a process starts, it will appear with the foods listed in order of urgency.

    • Product Name: Name of the food being processed.

    • Batch Number: Incremented each time the product is added. Resets at midnight.

    • Last Temp: Displays the last recorded temperature.

    • Process: Shows the name of the active process.

    • More Options: Tap here for additional options during the process.

    • Target Temperature: The temperature you need to reach, shown with an arrow indicating whether to be above or below.

    • Step Progress Indicator: Shows your current step and total steps in the process.

Recording Measurements

  1. Connect Probe: Tap the Probe icon to connect your Bluetooth temperature probe.

  2. Measure Temperature: Once the temperature stabilizes, the app records and submits it automatically.

  3. Processing: The food will disappear briefly while the system updates the next step.

  4. Temperature Results: If the temperature meets the target, the food will move to the bottom of the list. If not, you can re-record until it’s correct or the time expires. Failing to record an acceptable temperature will flag the process as “failed.”

  5. Hold Method: For hold processes, maintain the temperature within the target range for the entire duration. Failing to do so will flag the process as “failed.”

Completing a Process

  • Successful Completion: If all steps are passed, the process will be marked as “passed.”

  • Failed Step: If a step fails due to time running out or an out-of-range temperature, the process will be marked as “failed.”

  • Product Sold Out: For hold processes, mark the process as complete if the food is no longer available:

    1. Tap the food in the list.

    2. Tap More Options above the process name.

    3. Select Product Sold Out to complete the process and remove it from the app.

Clearing a Failed Process

  1. Locate Failed Process: Tap on the failed process in the list.

  2. Clear Process: Tap the Checkmark icon to confirm and clear the process.
