How to Set Up Unique PINs for Faster Login on Shared Devices

This article explains how Jolt users on shared (multi-user) mobile devices can skip the login user selection step by setting up unique PINs for faster login.

Unique PIN Login

What is it?

  • A feature that allows users to skip the login user selection step if all users have unique PINs.

Why does it matter?

  • Saves time by allowing users to access Jolt with just their PIN, without needing to select their name.

  • Ideal for shared devices that remain on-site.

  • Note: Users on single-user devices (e.g., personal phones or tablets) only need to log in once with their email and password and will stay logged in if configured for single-user mode.

How Does It Work?

  1. Ensure Unique PINs:

    • All login PINs in the location must be unique.

    • A user with Location Website Admin permissions or higher can manage this on the People page of the Web Portal.

  2. Check for Duplicate PINs:

    • Navigate to the People page.

    • In the Location Switcher at the top right, select the location you want to check.

    • You will be in Location Mode and see a tab with the location name and a count of active people.

    • Click the PIN column header to sort people by PIN and check for duplicates.

  3. Change a User’s PIN:

    • Click on the user’s row to display their profile.

    • Change their PIN and click Save.

  4. Bulk Edit PINs:

    • To reassign unique PINs to everyone, click the Bulk Edit button on the People page.

    • Update all users' PINs in one view to ensure uniqueness.

  5. Login with Unique PINs:

    • Once all PINs are unique, users will only need to enter their PIN when they tap Log In on a shared mobile device.
