McDonald's Sensor Alert Settings

This article will explain the different sensor Alert types for McDonald’s operators.

Food Safety Warning Alerts are standardized alerts based on the template chosen for the sensor. They are set by the McDonald’s Publisher Account and are required for all McDonald’s operators using the Sensors Product.

These default alert settings won't trigger notifications (email, text message) but will show up as YELLOW alerts on Jolt Sensor dashboards to let you know that the appliance is out of compliance with Brand Standards.

Alerts with Notifications (Red Alerts)

Sensors for McDonald’s also come with default alerts that are intended for more critical, emergency level situations. They are set according to the template chosen for the sensor and will show up as RED alerts on the Jolt dashboards. They will send text and email notifications to users in the Sensor Admin role by default but this can be customized. The default thresholds are very liberal to avoid over-notification and desensitization. These thresholds can also be customized to match your own risk tolerance and alert preferences.

Many users want to adjust the thresholds to be more aggressive when they first start out. This is not recommended as it usually results in too many notifications that overwhelm users. They may not realize how many units are currently operating at high temperature levels. It is recommended that you use the defaults for the first few weeks to get an idea of the volume of notifications you will receive, before you adjust them to be more aggressive. You can then focus on the most critical issue first and as you fine tune your system over time, you can set more aggressive alert thresholds when it makes sense for your organization.
