How to Submit and Manage Shift Drop & Pickup Requests in Jolt
If you need to adjust your shift schedule, follow these steps to submit a shift drop request or pick up a shift, and learn how managers can approve these requests.
Overview
Shift Drop Requests: Used when an employee needs to have their shift covered by a coworker.
Shift Pickup Requests: Allows other employees to request to cover the dropped shift.
Note: You can also trade shifts with coworkers who have the same role.
Submitting a Shift Drop Request
Open the Jolt App:
Navigate to Schedule: From the main menu, select “Schedule” to go to the Schedule Dashboard.
Choose Your Shift: Either select a shift from the “Next Shifts” section or from the “View All Shifts” section.
Access Shift Details:
Open Shift Details: Tap on the shift you want to drop to open the Shift Details Page.
Drop Shift: Tap the “More Options” menu (three dots in the top right corner) and then select “Drop Shift.”
Submit Your Drop Request:
Enter Reason: Provide a reason for dropping the shift.
Submit: Tap “Submit” to send your request.
Responsibility: You remain responsible for the shift until another employee picks it up and a manager approves the pickup.
Manage Your Drop Request:
View Request: After submitting, you’ll see the details of your drop request and the option to cancel if needed.
Picking Up a Dropped Shift
Find Available Shifts:
View Pickups: Once a shift is dropped, it will appear under “Pickups” on the Dashboard for coworkers with the same role.
Request to Pick Up a Shift:

For Scheduling Admins & Managers: Approving Shift Pickup Requests
Access Manage Tab:
Open Jolt App: Log in and go to the menu.
Navigate to Schedule: Select “Schedule” and then go to the “Manage” tab.
Review Pending Requests:
Pending Approvals: Find requests under the “Pending” section.
Details: Tap on a request labeled “Pickup Request” to review the details, including the original shift information and the employee requesting to pick it up.
Approve or Deny Requests:
Decision: Approve or deny the request based on the provided details.
View Decision:
Approved/Denied: After making a decision, you can view the request in the “Approved” or “Denied” sections.
Additional Tips:
Ensure Role Matching: Employees can only pick up shifts for roles they are assigned.
Check for Conflicts: Before requesting a pickup, confirm that the shift does not overlap with your current schedule.
