FAQ: Configuring Bluetooth Sensors from Your Mobile Device

What do I need to do before configuring Bluetooth sensors?

  • Connect the Gateway to Wi-Fi: Make sure your Gateway is connected to Wi-Fi. For detailed instructions, refer to the Configure Bluetooth Gateway From Device article.

  • Place the Sensors Correctly: Ensure your sensor is within a few feet of the Gateway. If the sensor is in a walk-in refrigerator or freezer, place the Gateway directly outside the unit, preferably "back-to-back" on each side of the wall.

What permissions do I need to connect a sensor?

You need to have one of the following admin settings:

  • Device Admin

  • Location Website Admin

  • Content Group Admin

  • Company Admin

How do I connect a sensor using the Jolt app?

  1. Open the Jolt App:

    • Navigate to Sensors.

  2. How do I add a new sensor?

    • Tap the + button at the top right.

    • Select Connect Sensor.

  3. Which connection type should I select?

    • Choose BLUETOOTH.

  4. How should I name my sensor?

    • Choose a meaningful name based on its location, such as "North Fridge #1" instead of "Sensor 1".

  5. How do I scan the sensor ID?

    • Tap the barcode icon in the Sensor ID field.

    • Scan the barcode on the back of the sensor (not the QR code).

    • Tap Save.

  6. How do I confirm the sensor is connected?

    • Your sensor will display on the list once it's connected.

  7. How can I view the sensor details?

    • Select the sensor to see more details.

  8. How do I add more sensors?

    • Tap the + button again and repeat the setup process for additional sensors.
