LoRa Sensors Connectivity FAQ
Q: My LoRaWAN sensors aren’t transmitting data. What should I do?
A: Follow these steps:
Check the Gateway Connection:
Open the Jolt app.
Go to Sensors.
Verify that the gateway shows a recent reading (less than 5 minutes old). If it’s offline, consult the Gateway Troubleshooting guide.
Preserve Sensor Battery Life:
If the gateway is offline, sensor batteries may drain quickly. To avoid this:
JRB 301: Remove the battery.
JRB 004s (Firmware < 2.4): Remove the battery. (Firmware ≥ 2.4 preserves battery life even if disconnected.)
L01, LRTD01: Remove batteries.
DLHT65, DLH65N: Press the ACT button 5 times rapidly until a long red light indicates sleep mode.
Important: Do not reactivate sensors until the gateway is online and transmitting readings.
Q: How should I position and reset my sensor?
A:
Position the Sensor:
Place it 10-15 feet from the gateway for a strong connection.
If it connects nearby but loses connection at a distance, there may be interference. Check Improving Sensor Signal Strength & Connectivity for tips.
Reset the Sensor:
JRB 004: Shake the sensor back and forth 3 times.
JRB 301: Open the sensor enclosure and reseat the battery (does not support shaking).
DLHT65, DLH65N: Hold the ACT button for 5 seconds until it blinks green 5 times, then red, and finally shows a long green light. If the long green light doesn’t appear, ensure the gateway is online.
Verify Connection:
After resetting, check the sensor details in the Jolt app for a recent reading.
If there’s no reading within 20 minutes, reset the sensor again and check in an hour. Sensors can sometimes take a few hours to send their first reading.
Q: What if the sensor still isn’t transmitting data after troubleshooting?
A: If you’ve tried all the above steps and the sensor isn’t working:
Contact Jolt Support. Provide details about the sensor model, gateway status, and the steps you’ve already taken.
