ZT111 Printer - How to Manually Calibrate the ZT111 Printer
Updated over 2 weeks ago

This guide walks you through manually calibrating a ZT111 printer for optimal performance. We recommend recalibrating whenever media types change. Follow step-by-step instructions to open the media door, insert media and ribbon, adjust media handling settings, position sensors for various media types, initiate calibration with PAUSE and CANCEL, manage the printhead and ribbon, and verify calibration using the FEED button. Simplify the process with our expert guidance and enhance your printing experience.

The following are step by step instructions for calibrating the ZT111

Step 1 - Open the media door.

Step 2 - Use the yellow tab below your media to align your media sensor so that the green light aligns with your label gaps. the sensor light shines through the gaps in the print media (labels) and is read by a sensor to determine the beginning and end of your labels.

Step 3 - Start to calibrate the printer by pressing and holding the PAUSE and CANCEL buttons.

The STATUS, PAUSE, and SUPPLIES lights will flash once

THE PAUSE LIGHT WILL FLASH

Step 4 - Open the prinhead assembly.

Step 5 - Remove the ribbon.

Please note, you will want to ensure that your hands are clean and dry prior to adjusting or manipulating the ribbon, as any debris may effect proper alignment, feeding, or operation of the ribbon spools.

You will remove the ribbon from the print head assembly and you can gently place the ribbon above the assembly as demonstrated:

Step 6 - Extend the media by pulling the labels out approximately 8-10 inches from the printer and remove a label from the label backing. this is necessary for the sensor to understand the gaps between the labels and to calibrate against the specific type of backing for your labels.

Step 7 - Align the label media backing so that it is aligned with the media sensor and close the printhead once aligned.

Step 8 - Press PAUSE once - the supplies light will flash while the device calibrates.

When the pause light is flashing move to step 9

Step 9 - Open the printhead and move the media (labels) forward so labels are beneath the printhead, then reload the ribbon.

Reload the ribbon by placing the ribbon under the printhead between the labels and the printhead assembly and then manually spin the ribbon spool in a clockwise motion.

Step 10 - Close the printhead then press PAUSE.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you don't completely close the printhead, you may see a Head Open Error on your ZT111 printer, and the calibration will not be able to complete. The printhead should click TWICE when closed properly and the printhead assembly lever should be perpendicular to the ground.

The SUPPLIES light will flash as the printer calibrates the ribbon. it is normal to have multiple labels feed through this step.

When the PAUSE light flashes again, the calibration is complete. Close the media door.

Press PAUSE to resume printing.
