Probe Report

Report Purpose

  • Keep an eye on trends in temperature probe usage.

  • Spot locations with lower temperature probe usage and target for training.

  • Probe usage can be defined two ways. The report has a setting to change the way usage is computed to accommodate your situation.

    • Option 1: This is the default method. It counts the number of times a probe is used on a measurement item where probe is required. For a probe to be “required” on a measurement item, it must be the only input method selected. See the article How to use the Measurement List Item Type in Jolt for more information.

    • Option 2: Counts the number of times a probe is used on any measurement item. This method is best if your lists don’t have probe as the only input option.

    • To change this setting from the default:

  1. Run the report and use the filters to display it the way you want

  2. Save and name the report.

  3. Click the More Options button in the top right and select Settings

  4. Toggle on “Report Calculation”.

Report Value

  • Quickly identify locations where food safety practices are not being closely followed.

  • Determine which lists employees are struggling to use a probe on.

  • Find list items where employees are choosing to enter temperatures manually.

Brand Probe Report

Report Purpose

  • Follow trends for all franchisees combined.

  • Includes all locations for the brand.

  • Filter data by two custom fields.

  • Probe usage is defined as using a probe to take a temperature on a list item as opposed to entering the temperature manually using the device keypad.

  • Probe usage percent is computed on measurement items where a probe is required. The calculation is the number of times a probe was used divided by the number of measurement items where probe usage is marked as required.

    • This helps detect when the probe input option is overridden and the reading is entered manually.

Report Value

  • Quickly evaluate your brand's success at implementing food safety practices using a probe for taking temperature.

  • Determine which lists franchisees are struggling to use a probe on.

  • Find list items where employees are choosing to enter temperatures manually.

Example Use Case

  • One big brand decided it was very important for their brand to implement best practices for keeping food safe. After mandating a digital food safety solution to all their franchises, they were able to use the Brand Probe Report to follow the progress of their franchisees' adoption of their mandate.

  • The Brand Probe Report was especially useful during the 2-year roll-out of their digital food safety initiative to ensure that probe usage continued to go up while reducing exposure to brand risk from food safety liability.
