Troubleshooting Checklist Jolt Print Station

If you're experiencing issues with your JPS's Zebra ZD410/ZD411 Printer, follow these steps before trying to reconnect.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

  1. Update the Jolt App:

    • Ensure the Jolt App is up to date. Open the App Store, then select Updates to check for and install any available updates.

  2. Understand Connection Types:

    • Wi-Fi: Recommended for a stable connection. Use a private or password-protected 2.4GHz network. Ensure your iPad is connected to this network and have the password ready.

  3. Clean Printer

    • Take Out Labels: Remove any labels or media inside the printer to prevent them from getting damaged or dirty during the cleaning process.

    • Prepare a lint-free Cloth/Swab: Moisten a lint-free cloth or swab with rubbing alcohol.

    • Wipe the Printhead: Gently wipe the printhead with the cloth or swab. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage.

    • Wipe the Roller: Gently clean the platen roller (the rubber roller that feeds the labels through the printer). Rotate the roller manually to clean the entire surface.

    • Clean the label sensor: Use a swab moistened with rubbing alcohol to clean the media sensor. This sensor detects the presence of labels and can become dirty over time.

    • Wipe the Exterior: Clean the exterior surfaces of the printer, including the cover and any buttons.

  4. Check Wi-Fi Network:

    • Ensure your Wi-Fi is a 2.4GHz network, not a 5GHz network, as Jolt will not connect to 5GHz networks.

  5. Disable Bluetooth on Other Devices:

    • Turn off Bluetooth on all other devices in the location, even if they are not using Jolt. This can prevent interference when connecting to Wi-Fi. After doing this, try connecting the printer again.

  6. Perform Resets if Necessary:

    • If the printer still won't connect, perform these resets:

      • Drain the Capacitor

      • Hard Reset: Follow both reset procedures.

  7. Try Another Device:

    • If the printer is still not discoverable or won’t connect, try using a different device. This can help determine if the issue is with the device or the app.

  8. Check for Interference:

    • Ensure there is no other interference preventing the printer from connecting. Refer to the Apple Interference Troubleshooting article for more information.

Additional Tips

  • Private Network: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is private or password-protected for a secure connection.

  • Interference: Other electronic devices and networks can interfere with your printer connection. Turn off unnecessary devices and move them away from your printer.
