The following article describes the process for replacing your platen roller clips on your Jolt Print Station (JPS) Printers.
Common Issues with Platen Rollers and Clips
The platen roller or its associated clips may be compromised in a variety of circumstances, such as:
Damage During Use: Improper handling, such as forcibly removing paper jams, may cause the clips or roller to break.
Wear and Tear: As essential wear items, these components may naturally degrade over time, affecting device performance. When these issues occur, prompt repair or replacement is often necessary to restore your printer to optimal working condition.
Warranty Coverage for the Platen Roller and Components
Jolt printer warranties do not cover the platen roller or its clips as these are considered wear items. This means the replacement costs for these components must be borne by the user. However, your warranty will still apply for defects beyond regular wear and tear.
Tips for Preventing Damage to Platen Rollers
To extend the life of your platen roller and associated parts, consider the following practices:
Clear Jams Properly: Follow the printer’s manual for safely clearing paper jams to avoid unnecessary strain on components.
Perform Regular Maintenance: Clean and inspect the platen roller periodically to minimize the buildup of dust and debris.
Use Compatible Paper: Always use the recommended paper types and sizes to ensure smooth operation.
