LoRa Sensors Connectivity Troubleshooting
If your LoRaWAN sensors aren't transmitting data, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Gateway Connection
Check Gateway Status:
Open the Jolt app and go to Sensors.
Ensure the gateway shows a recent reading (less than 5 minutes old). If it's offline, refer to the Gateway Troubleshooting guide.
Important: If the gateway is offline, sensor batteries may drain quickly. To prevent battery drain, put sensors into sleep mode:
JRB 301: Remove the battery.
JRB 004s (Firmware < 2.4): Remove the battery. (Firmware ≥ 2.4 preserves battery life even when disconnected.)
L01, LRTD01: Remove batteries.
DLHT65, DLH65N: Press the ACT button 5 times rapidly until a long red light indicates sleep mode.
Do not reactivate sensors until the gateway is online and sending readings.
2. Place and Reset Sensor
Optimize Sensor Placement:
Position the sensor 10-15 feet from the gateway to establish a strong initial connection.
If the sensor connects nearby but loses connection at a distance, there may be interference. Refer to Improving Sensor Signal Strength & Connectivity for solutions.
Reset the Sensor:
JRB 004: Shake the sensor back and forth 3 times to trigger it.
JRB 301: Open the sensor enclosure and reseat the battery (does not support shaking).
DLHT65, DLH65N: Hold the ACT button for 5 seconds until the sensor blinks green 5 times, then red, and finally shows a long green light. No long green light means the sensor couldn't connect. Verify the gateway is online.
Verify Sensor Connection:
After resetting, check the sensor details page in the Jolt app for a recent reading.
If the sensor doesn’t show a reading within 20 minutes, reset it again and check in an hour. Sensors can sometimes take a few hours to send their first reading.
3. Contact Support
If the sensor still isn’t transmitting data after following these steps:
Contact Jolt Support for further assistance. Provide details about the sensor model, gateway status, and any troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken.
