How can I troubleshoot synchronization and visibility issues in Jolt Software?

Troubleshooting Jolt Print Station (JPS) and Zebra Printer Issues

Purpose

Help customers quickly resolve common connectivity and printing issues involving Jolt Print Station (JPS) devices and Zebra printers.

Always begin with the simplest troubleshooting steps before moving to resets or hardware replacement.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

Printer Will Not Connect to Tablet

If the printer is not appearing or pairing with the tablet:

Verify Network Connection

On the JPS device:

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen

  2. Press and hold the WiFi icon

  3. Confirm the device is connected to the correct network

Restart the Environment

  1. Restart the tablet

  2. Power off the printer

  3. Wait 30 seconds

  4. Power the printer back on

Reset the Jolt App

  1. Open the Jolt app

  2. Navigate to:
    Settings β†’ About

  3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner

  4. Select:
    Reset App

  5. Confirm the reset

Reconnect the Location

  3. Scan the QR code or manually enter the location credentials

Printer Disconnects Frequently

If the printer connects briefly but disconnects after printing a few labels:

Check WiFi Stability

  1. Restart the tablet

  2. Reconnect the tablet to WiFi

  3. Confirm internet connectivity remains stable

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn the printer off

  2. Wait 3 minutes

  3. Turn the printer back on

Verify App Version

Ensure the Jolt app is fully updated before continuing troubleshooting.

Printer Is Connected but Will Not Print

If the printer appears connected but labels do not print:

Check Label Setup

  • Verify labels are loaded correctly

  • Check for jams or partially fed labels

  • Confirm the labels match the configured printer settings

Perform Printer Power Drain Reset

  1. Unplug the printer power cable

  2. Hold the power button for 30–45 seconds

  3. Reconnect power

  4. Restart the printer

Recalibrate the Printer

After resetting:

  1. Run printer calibration

  2. Test print a new label

Factory Reset and Reconfiguration

JPS Factory Reset

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer

  2. Perform the approved factory reset procedure

  3. Re-run printer calibration after reset completes

Zebra Printer Reconnection Steps

If a Zebra printer is not detected by the tablet:

  1. Power off the tablet

  2. Disconnect all printer cables

  3. Turn the tablet back on

  4. Reconnect printer power and USB cables

  5. Wait for the printer status indicator to turn green

  6. Retry printing

Escalation Guidance

Escalate for possible hardware replacement if:

  • The printer is still not recognized after all troubleshooting

  • USB connectivity repeatedly fails

  • The printer powers on but cannot maintain connection

  • Calibration consistently fails

  • Physical damage is visible

When escalating:

  • Request clear photos of the printer

  • Include cable connection photos when possible

  • Document all troubleshooting already completed

Support Guidance

  • Keep troubleshooting instructions short and sequential

  • Do not provide multiple reset procedures at once

  • Confirm results after each major step before continuing

  • Use simple operational language and avoid technical jargon

  • Prioritize restoring printing functionality quickly before advanced diagnostics
