Using Label Tags to Control Label Category Visibility

Label Tags provide a flexible, scalable way to control label visibility across locations by ensuring users only see relevant content, reducing confusion, speeding up tasks, and improving the overall labeling experience.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Multi-location accounts often need to standardize shared label content while still accounting for differences between locations. Although you can manually deactivate individual categories or labels for specific locations, this becomes time-consuming when only a few locations should receive certain labels. Common scenarios include:

  • Different store layouts or menus that require unique labeling needs

  • Product tests or Limited Time Offers (LTOs) running only in select locations

Label Tags solve this problem by letting you control which locations can see specific label categories. This helps reduce clutter for end users, ensures they only interact with relevant labels, and speeds up the labeling workflow - leading to smoother operations and reduced labor costs.

Who Can Use Label Tags

Company, Content Group, and Location Administrators can:

  • Create Label Tags

  • Apply tags to label categories

  • Apply tags to locations

If a category has no tags, it will be visible to all locations it is shared with. Once tags are applied, only locations with at least one matching tag will see that category in the mobile app.

Creating Label Tags

  1. Navigate to Settings > Tags in the web portal.

  2. 2. Click the blue (+) button to add a new tag.

  3. Assign a name, color, and icon to help visually identify the tag.

Assigning Tags to Locations

  1. Go to Settings > Locations.

  2. Select the location you want to update.

  3. In the Info section, choose the tags you want to apply.

Tags assigned here determine which label categories the location will be allowed to access.

Applying Tags to Label Categories

  1. Navigate to Labeling > Label Categories.

  2. Open an existing category or create a new one.

  3. In the Category Details page, use the dropdown menu to select tags for that category.

Only locations sharing at least one tag with the category will see it in the mobile app.

Category Index Page Tag Visibility

After tagging categories:

  • The Tags column displays which tags are applied to each category.

  • When viewing the page filtered to a single location, tags assigned to that location appear at the top of the table.

  • If a category does not share a matching tag with the location, it will appear disabled, along with a “Hidden” icon indicating it is not visible in the mobile app for that location.

Summary

Label Tags offer a flexible and scalable way to manage label visibility across multiple locations. By tagging both locations and label categories, you ensure users only see content relevant to their workflows—reducing confusion, speeding up tasks, and improving the overall labeling experience.
