Printing a Work Order QR Code

You can print a QR code from a work order template that can be scanned by a mobile device to open a work order.

Before You Begin

  • If you want users to be able to open a work order without having access to the Work Orders module, you can print a QR code for a work order template, post it where you want it, and it can be scanned by any user to create the work order.

  • The person scanning the QR code does not need to have the Jolt app installed on their device.

  • The URL encoded in the QR code is specific to a location and work order type.

  • When a user scans it, they are taken to a web page where they can type in the summary of the issue and submit.

  • To print a QR code, your computer must be connected to a printer.

Printing the QR Code

  1. Navigate to work order templates:

    • An authorized user can log into the Jolt Web Portal and click on Lists | Work Orders.

    • Click on the Templates tab and select a template.

  2. Navigate to Settings:

    • Click on the Settings tab

  3. Print the QR code:

    • Scroll down to the QR code section

    • Select the locations you want to print for

    • Click the Print button

    • Select a printer and click Print.

Using the QR Code

  1. Post the QR Code.

    • After printing, post the QR code in the area where it is accessible to the people you want to open work orders.

  2. Scan the link.

    • Use a smartphone to scan the QR code with the camera.

    • Tap the link displayed in the camera app to get to the Work Orders page.

  1. Type in the summary of the issue.

  2. Tap Submit.

The work order will be created with just a summary. Authorized users can then make changes to it on the Web Portal or the Jolt app.

Revoking a QR Code

If you ever need to stop users from creating work orders from a QR code, you can revoke it. If you need a new one, you can print another.

  1. Navigate to work order templates:

    • An authorized user can log into the Jolt Web Portal and click on Lists | Work Orders.

    • Click on the Templates tab and select a template.

  2. Navigate to Settings:

    • Click on the Settings tab

  3. Revoke the QR code:

    • Scroll down to the QR code section

    • Select the locations you want to revoke the QR code for

    • Click the Revoke button

    • That QR code will no longer be scannable to create work orders.
