Industry data indicates that the main reason food handling processes fail is because people get busy and forget when it’s time to take a temperature. The Visual Alert Device (VAD) silently notifies the entire kitchen staff when it’s time to take temperatures.
How does it work?
The time & temperature solution comes with a LoRaWan gateway and visual alert device. Once registered in the Jolt mobile app and connected to the gateway, place the device in a conspicuous area of the kitchen. It will change colors to indicate the status of food handling processes running in Jolt.
When a process starts, the light turns green. When it is within 15 minutes of needing a temperature, the light turns amber. When it hits 10 minutes, the light turns red. At 5 minutes before the temperature is due, the light flashes red. Once the temperatures are caught up, the light goes back to green and turns off when all processes are complete.
Setting up a visual alert device
Once your gateway is set up and connected to the Jolt mobile app, you can add your visual alert device.
Log in to the Jolt mobile app and navigate to settings.
Tap notification lights. Your gateway should appear in the list. If you run into any issues, please make sure the gateway is properly installed and LoRaWan is connected to the gateway.
Tap the plus sign in the top right corner then select connect visual alert device (VAD).
Scan the QR code on the sticker attached to the VAD. Your camera will close and the device ID will appear on the next screen.
Note: If the QR code won’t scan, tap "manual entry" on the camera screen to bypass the camera and enter the device ID manually.
Tap the name field to rename the VAD, or tap save to add the device to your system with the default name.
