How can I move labels between Content Group and Location levels in Jolt Software?

Moving Labels Between Content Group and Location Levels in Jolt Software

Purpose

Help users move or replicate labels between Content Group and Location scopes and ensure devices are updated to reflect changes.

Understanding Label Scope

Labels in Jolt Software exist in two scopes:

  • Location-level labels: Only available within a single location

  • Content Group labels: Available across all locations in the group

To change where a label is available, you must either move or recreate it in the correct scope.

Moving a Label to a Different Scope

If a label needs to be moved from Location to Content Group:

  1. Open the label

  2. Select the three-dot menu (⋮)

  3. Choose Move to Content Group

  4. Repeat for each label individually as needed

Note: Labels must be moved one at a time.

Alternative Method: Copying Labels Across Locations

If a label cannot be moved directly, use one of the following options:

Clone a Template

  1. Go to Labeling → Label Templates

  2. Select the template menu (⋮)

  3. Click Clone

  4. Edit and assign the cloned template as needed

Export and Import a Template

  1. Open the label template

  2. Go to Advanced → Export Template

  3. In the destination location, open templates

  4. Use Advanced → Import Template

This creates a copy of the label in another scope.

Device Synchronization After Changes

After moving or copying labels, devices must be synced to reflect updates.

Refresh on JPS Device:

  1. Open the Jolt app

  2. Go to Settings → About

  3. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮)

  4. Select Reset App

  5. Allow the app to resync data

After sync completes, labels will appear based on their updated scope.

Important Notes

  • Content Group labels are visible across all locations in that group

  • Location-level labels remain isolated unless moved or copied

  • Changes may not appear on devices until a sync or reset is completed

Support Guidance

  • Help users distinguish between moving vs copying labels

  • Recommend Content Group for multi-location access

  • Always include device sync steps after scope changes

  • Avoid assuming bulk movement functionality

  • Escalate if labels do not appear after sync
